Justice for Kirsty Campaign ends

The committee which has led the fight to achieve justice for Kirsty MacColl has agreed to cease campaigning. It will disband and stop collecting money to fund its activities. The remaining funds will be distributed to charities of which Kirsty would have approved.

Jean would like everyone who sends an email to know that she is reading every one but is simply unable to reply personally to them all. She will post a personal statement when able to do so, but is tremendously heartened by all the messages of support which she has already received.

Kirsty MacColl was an English singer and songwriter who was killed by a power boat at the age of 41 whilst scuba diving with her sons in a restricted diving area off Cozumel, México on 18th December 2000. No-one has ever been made accountable to the satisfaction of her family and friends.

The mailing list ( ) has been used to keep supporters up to date with campaign progress and will remain active until after Jean's personal message has been sent out.

Note: Jean uses her maiden name of Newlove for her professional work in the theatre. Her married name is MacColl and she wishes to be called MacColl for the campaign, This is appropriate in her family role as mother and grandmother. The campaign is totally separate from her own professional career.
